  1. When I was the Science Program Chair for DETCON1*, the “Science Denial in the U.S.” panel had about 20 persons who wanted to be on it. It was difficult to cut it down to five.

    During the panel, it was commented that “more scientists needed to get into politics.” One of the panelists commented that she was doing the job she LOVED… it would be difficult for her to quit, and go deal with [the attitudes and shenanigans of current politicians].

    * DETCON1 was the 2014 North American Science Fiction Convention, held in Detroit.
