The Vatican Observatory Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization registered in the State of Arizona, USA. It has a Board of Directors who carry fiduciary responsibility for the Foundation. At the direction of the Board, a financial audit by a third-party accounting firm is conducted annually to ensure the financial health of the organization.

In addition, two annual reports are published each year. One lists the research and activities of the Observatory while the other describes the fundraising efforts of the Foundation.
